Thursday, July 27, 2017

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, July 28, at 10:15 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will announce this year’s Great Streets grant recipients at the second annual Great Streets Conference, a forum to connect small businesses and prospective grant applicants to District agencies and community resources to improve their place of business. The announcement furthers Mayor Bowser’s efforts to support local businesses, create new job opportunities for residents, and grow emerging neighborhoods across Washington, DC.

The purpose of the Great Streets Program is to transform 13 designated retail priority areas by fostering small business development with new and existing businesses, stimulate job growth, and increase the District’s tax base to improve commercial vibrancy along the city’s corridors and surrounding neighborhoods. Since 2015, the Bowser Administration has awarded over $10 million to small businesses and created over 2,000 job opportunities through the Great Streets program.
