Small Business Capital Improvement Grants

The Great Streets Small Business Capital Improvement Grants are competitive, reimbursable grants of up to $85,000 for small business owners to improve their place of business. The purpose of the grants is to support existing small businesses, attract new businesses, increase the District’s tax base, create new job opportunities for District residents, and transform emerging commercial corridors into thriving and inviting neighborhood centers.

The grant program is administered by the Government of the District of Columbia through the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). DMPED will select grantees through a competitive application process. If awarded a grant, the business owner must first complete the approved capital improvements and then be reimbursed for the work completed. Business owners with locations along the Great Streets corridors may apply for the Small Business Capital Improvement Grants. To verify that your business is located in a funding area, search for your business address here.

If you would like to be added to the Great Streets email list to receive updates about small business opportunities in the District of Columbia, please email us at greatstreets@dc.gov.
